Extremely worried for personal reasons but also for everyone else who wants to get a degree and is no longer certain they will

We really appreciate everyone who voted and voiced your anxieties. It is an overwhelming time in general, and while Study Hall can't fix the many many issues in higher education, we hope we can continue to be a helpful resource and community of lifelong learners! What would you like to see more of from us on community tab and socials?

I'm concerned about education as a whole. My parents both work for the public school system, including Title I programs that are reliant on federal funding, and— to dramatically understate the issue— it's deeply concerning.

I fear both the quality and access are nosediving due to political influence on the financial and legal sides of things. And it’s sad. I think USA peaked and it’s downhill from here unfortunately. But that’s apparently what we voted for so…

Super anxious. I took a study hall course to help me decide to go in on applying to grad programs in psych (I'm 37 with two degrees and am changing direction), but quit the process of applying when I saw the funding cuts and targeted cuts for LGBTQ health and research, and my mentor told me it wasn't a safe decision anymore. Totally upended my hopes of returning to school.

My spouse is a first year phd and involved in the school's diversity program. We have no idea how long that'll last, and we're really worried about others in his cohort having their student visas revoked without warning.

I think in the higher ed space, there will be a fight for the availability of resources and the quality of those resources for students and faculty alike, but im immensely worried about the accessibility of higher education. It has been an uphill battle paying for university, and as grad school looms closer, I am becoming less and less sure that i will be able to earn a graduate degree in this political climate

I am a higher education science instructor and I fear changes in enrollment and financial aid & the system deciding certain things aren't cool to teach, my job security might end up on the line. So many of my students depend not just on financial aid, but on other assistance programs for food, transportation, etc. that are fueled by grants and funding that the government will possibly cut 😢

Everyone here is talking about Trump but I'm anxious because of how many young people I see justifying using AI to cheat on assignments because the only point of learning is to get a good job. Pretty anxiety inducing thtmat so many young people don't see the value of learning for learnings sake.

The decline of interest in education is a bit concerning... and that's putting it lightly.
