Amnesia re-defined what single player horror games should feel like... But because of how innovative it was, 15 years later, a lot of modern Games have improved on the formula. That makes it feel dated now, but at the time, it was mindblowing

Outlast... The very first Outlast had me tweaking at the very first jumpscare. I will never forget squeezing past those shelves, opening the next room and suddenly a body drops. Worse was the Pig, MF literally used his big damn nose to triangulate my position.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem - the sanity meter on that was genius terrifying on a level so much more real than other games. ... Thinking my game was glitching out when I all of a sudden went back 5 seconds in the game, looking behind me and all around and under me for who was turning the volume down, and LOSING MY SHIT when I though my save file was corrupted. Those devs were devilishly clever

Prey (2017) so far is that game that got in me in the spook zone the best. Also played on max difficulty which helped the first two thirds feel more intense.
