Unfortunately it’s the YouTube reality. No one understands why.

I agree 100%. I wish I could figure out what the magic is to get folks to hit that subscribe button

I started my channel 2 years ago, roughly actually making content. I found out a couple things. It is extremely difficult to get 4000 watch hours and at the same time get the thousand subscribers. The second thing is more subscribers, does not necessarily mean more views or watch hours. YouTube shorts will get you subscribers, a lot faster than videos will. There are definitely people out there watching that work for YouTube I mean. It’s a big money game and they’re trying to get all they can. I feel like sometimes they put creators through tests if you will. It’s purely speculation on my part, but there’s been some questionable things that have happened since I’ve taken it seriously and tried to become a serious creator. Other than that, you just gotta do your best to bring the best quality content that you’re capable of. It’s not always easy, especially when you work a full-time job and only have the weekends to create content and then edit the video. Especially trying to stick to a schedule like one video per week. I thought that once my channel got monetized, it would be raking in the dough. Definitely not the case. If I were relying on the income from my channel to pay any sort of bills each month, I’d be living on the street. The most I’ve ever made in one month since I was monetized was $587 . There was a couple months when I did not meet the hundred dollar threshold to get paid and then it drags out until the next month. Lately I’ve been averaging just over $100 a month. It’s a pretty bad business model if you think about how much money and time I put into it, the return is not so great. But I also understand that building a channelthat can become lucrative takes years.

I don't get it. It doesn't cost anything to subscribe! Hmmm
