Once you hear the stack talk of 2102 working at her hardest, there's no going back. It's the greatest thing in railroading

Southern Pacific 4449 -Built 1941 -Proudly served passengers 16 years -Saved from scrap by pure luck -Donated to a park where despite the elements/vandals, someone kept her oiled/greased -Her design inspired the volunteers of the American Freedom Train -Her restoration time led to the restoration of Reading 2101 (The 30 day miracle) -pulled the Freedom Train across nearly 2/3 of the continental United States -has done multiple excursions -survived being hijacked by Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster in Tough Guys (1986) - one of two operational steam powered streamliners Need I say more?

I agree! The Reading's T-1 northerns are one of my all time favorite steam locomotives and definitely one of my favorite 4-8-4s, not to mention it's also beautifully preserved and in running condition Can't wait for 2100 to soon be pulling excursions!

Having chased it last month, I think I can agree with this assertion whole-heartedly.

Canadian National Railway No. 6400 is a preserved 4-8-4 “Confederation” or “Northern” type locomotive built in June 1936 for the Canadian National Railway (CNR).

I found this quote about a NYC Niagara. One of the most efficient steam locomotives ever built in the US, the New York Central railroad's 4-8-4 "Niagara" could accelerate to 90 MPH in just 2 minutes with a 20 car passenger train. I was surprised that nobody else had mentioned this locomotive.

@Alpha_118

2102 and 844 are the top of my list for 4-8-4s tho I'm probably not going up to film 2102 anymore, every time I've been up there people were rude and ignorant, it sucks because 2102 is such a beautiful locomotive that I'd love to film more of

@Handlesarestoopid

Great choice, but the grace and elegance of SP 4449 and N&W 611 are unmatched

Hoping to get a chance to see this Northern myself! I saw 611 when she was in Strasburg, but she only ran on slow speeds. With 2102 however, she can go mainline speed.
