🕊️ Brian Wilson’s passing has me thinking again about Pet Sounds — and what could still be done with today’s audio technology.
My new video goes live in about an hour — and it asks the question:
Should Pet Sounds finally get a proper stereo remix?

Brian already released Pet Sounds in Stereo and it sounds perfect. That album doesn't need anything. In fact, it's perfect even in Mono.

It’s one of the most highly esteemed albums in the history of rock’n’roll, why are people pretending it “needs” something? 😆

Why are people obsessed with remixes. Original albums are good and made many artists successful. And Beatles remixes are not the real Beatles it's just sounds like gyles messing about with no quality control.

We had one in 1996 that sounds great. What does desperately need a remix is Surf's Up. There are moments in the mix where it sounds like you have a bad sinus infection.

The stereo mix is much better than beatles stereo mixes. They are listenable,and actually good. But is not perfect.A remix with the clarity of the 2017 remixes,would be great. But,not in the "george lucas" mode.I want to listen all mixes: Mono,stereo,surround and this new mix.

No it’s already a perfectly sound album honestly The Beach Boys always had pretty good remasters compared to anyone else.

as long as they don't compress the crap out of it like a modern album would get mixed, yes

People saying things like 'leave it alone' surely realise that Brian Wilson would have killed back then to have available to him the clarity achievable today. It's not changing it, but allowing us to hear more of what was there. The old version will still be available to those who do not want it.

Now that Brian Wilson is dead, probably not. I don't really understand this need to enhance classic albums. Is Pet Sounds not good enough as is?

@zumavan57

Perhaps. And maybe also release a revised, better, updated album cover. They can still keep the photo, but tweak the cover to make it more contemporary and interesting!
