Looks like Duck’s overall green colour is also pretty reminiscent of the green used in Series 3. Really appreciate them for doing regardless or not if it was an intentional decision!

And the fact that today is also the 10th anniversary of The Adventure Begins. How fitting!

My only two complaints are how small the rolling stock and tenders are and how long the rear couplings are.

I’ll be honest this is probably the best thing Mattel has ever done

It’s crazy that Mattel just dropped their best ever Thomas merch out of nowhere like this. I am really hoping that this is a sign of what is to come rather than another TWR 2022 situation.

Gosh, they all do look absolutely awesome! Sounds like some feedback is being taken for Thomas & Friends at last, even for the toys! I certainly would like that toy of Thomas with a face from The Railway Series! 😁

Might just have to let my inner child out and buy some of those die cast for the railway series sake and show my appreciation for the railway series sparking something for me the love of the railway and it’s history (which Thomas actually plays a large role in the preservation movement even now)

Thank god for this, right after the disappointment of the bachmann set, here comes Mattel proving again that they can take Thomas in the right direction. I also prey that this extends beyond the 80th anniversary.

My hope has finally been restored in for the future of this franchise. Not in terms of a television return but for supplemental material, like many franchises before. Just knowing the fact that Mattel is finally embracing the roots of these characters in some way is incredible. Thomas' 80th may just be the most influential anniversary we've ever had

I guess Mattel is finally waking up, since they know the 80th Anniversary is going to be special.

I agree with you, this is an improvement over that AEG toy line. I just hope Mattel does the same with the TV series by canceling AEG and produces a reboot more akin to the original show and the railway series.

The fact as well that they did Duck instead of Emily... Even Mattel has now admitted who the true eighth main character of the franchise is, and his name is Montague 🦆

The Unlucky Tug
Well this made me feel much better immediately!
Looks like a "Return to the Classic Thomas look" indeed! As shown off at Toy Fair '25, a new collectible die-cast line is on the way, just what we've always wanted! Absolutely love that Railway Series-styled card art for the Thomas. Looks like that new die-cast Thomas WAS indicative of a new range!
We're also getting an entire new range of Motorized engines with more CGI-accurate proportions - including DUCK and FLYING SCOTSMAN!! What a wild line-up for a first wave. It's wonderful to see this era of Thomas being fully embraced again, and I dearly hope this stretches beyond the 80th this year. Everything here looks very promising!
Almost seems like a dream come true. Our prayers are finally being answered! What a way to celebrate the 80th!
