SUV RVing

I met up with ‪@TheOverlanderNextdoor‬ in January and filmed a tour of her FJ Cruiser and military camper. That video won't be out for another couple months, but her FJ just broke down last week. She lives on the road full-time and has been doing DoorDash as income, but that's now impossible with a totaled vehicle. Her GoFundMe funds will now be going toward her new rig: www.gofundme.com/f/fj-cruiser-needs-major-repairs-…

@dokken08

She has insurance, right. E- begging at its finest.

At her GoFundMe link, she states that she needs her FJ to support her family. The only family she has is her little dog. 2 months ago she did a GoFundMe to buy her trailer. She got $1,200 on that one. Over three grand so far on this one. What's next?

Man, I’m surprised at the harsh/critical tone of most comments I’ve read.

@AnyAdventureWillDo

I'm disabled and have only worked part-time for the past few years. I totaled my car last year while working, I still owe $5000 on the new one. Also, I can't work because I am recovering from surgery for the next few months. Where's my Go Fund Me? I had BIG travel plans for this summer, but I'm putting that off. I'm putting on my big boy pants to pay of other stuff first. Furthermore, my wife has almost $5000 stashed away but I'm not asking for it. I'll pay off my own car with my refinanced loan. It's called deferred gratification.

This is the type of thing that undermines The credibility of GoFundMe. This ruins it for people that truly need it.

Use your platform for good, this lady isn’t suffering from a tragedy, her car broke down… welcome to life

I drive a 24 year old car with the check engine light aglow. On a fixed income and paying $5.77/gl for gas. There are times I can’t even make it to a doctors appointment. Every day is a struggle to make ends meet but I manage to survive and so can she. GoFundMe⁉️ SMH‼️

Arby's is hiring and she can walk to work. How about getting a real job?

Tristan, this was an embarrassing post. You’d do well to delete it and post an apology in its place.

Put the squeeze on your subscribers, not a good look.

Tristan, looks like you really stirred the nest with this plea to your followers to help another nomad. I met you in person twice, but I’m not going to ask you to help me by asking your followers to give me money. Here’s my story: 4 days before Christmas 2023 my van of 3 years was smashed then totaled by the insurance company. And, because the other driver wasn’t insured, I had to scrape and borrow and start a Spot Fund to come up with a down payment on a replacement van plus other related expenses. I have 35 friends, family and followers on my social media. I didn’t get to my goal so I’ve been stuck in AZ because the van needs a couple of major repairs and I can’t afford it, nor do I feel confident it will get me back to my summer stomping grounds at NW Oregon coast. I have been traveling and earning income from Instacart, Roadie and Shipt, but alas, there isn’t enough income or self control to follow a budget to saving money. A few weeks ago I started looking at work that offers housing. I found a job I can do and the housing is CHEAP provided I can handle having a roommate in a dorm setting. Starting tomorrow, 4/2, I will park my van and work as a cook at Grand Canyon National Park at the south rim village. Asking your followers to give money they don’t have to someone they don’t know is poor judgement. Even nomads have limits.

Not going to happen. I am not going to fund your hobbies. Do you want to fund mine forst?

I had a large client of ours go bankrupt. They owed my company mid-six figures. I had employees to pay. I sold my house, my FJ, my guitars and more. Everyone got paid but me. “My car broke down” is not a Go Fund Me. Get a job. Unsubscribed.

@WanderingWorkamper

How is this our problem??? Is she going to pay for my shit to be repaired when something happens? Hit up her insurance, that's why we have it! Being nomadic without enough to pay for repairs is assinine to me. There are so many workamping jobs she could get without a vehicle! I'm on one that not only pays well, but they cover housing too. No vehicle needed, and within a couple months she'd have enough funds to make stuff happen.

I would donate, but I spent my last $60 on a Trump Bible.
