I remember the time one of my online friends was trying to look for a specific fish that can dig into the sand because they were looking for something that fits a character’s terrakinesis when they’re making him a merman; they came across the stargazer image on google and they’re disturbed. I made the mistake of looking up ‘stargazer’ to see for myself and I regret it

They look silly with their grumpy face. And it's cute how they wiggle themselves into the sand 💕

Was well aware of Stargazers as a sea creature. But I did conceptualize land and swamp dwelling variants for my tabletop. These goofy goobers were just too precious to pass up as inspiration for an ambush monster~
