Unsightly Opinions

I can’t believe I am making this announcement. This morning we reached 🎉50,000 subscribers!!!🎉

5 years ago this channel was just an idea. I wanted to make content to connect people, share ideas, advocate, and help those navigating vision loss and disability feel empowered. In those 5 years, it has evolved into so much more than anything I could have ever dreamed. I have learned so much from every person who’s shared their story and experiences. I have been allowed to explore and challenge my own perceptions and for that I could not be more thankful.

It’s been an emotional journey with so many highs and lows. I’ve met so many wonderful people and found a community that I wish 16 year-old Tamara could have had. I have made connections and been given opportunities that would never have happened without each and every one of you. I can’t express how much I appreciate everything we have done together and how much you teach me every day.

Thank you for coming on this unsightly journey. I can’t wait for everything that is still to come.

How should we celebrate this unbelievable milestone?

What content do you want to see next?

~Tamara (and Patience🐾)
PD: Tamara smiles looking down at Patience who is asleep half in her lap. Tamara is wearing a black swing dress with a black and green houndstooth jacket and black hat with pearls on it.

Only 50,000? What a shame. We find this Tamara to be intelligent, inspiring and extremely well spoken. Thank you for your excellent content.

Contratulations; it's very well-deserved! One thing I'm curious about is technology for listening to audiobooks, podcasts, etc. Do you use Audible, and/or a podcast app? If so, do you use VoiceOver to interact with them, or is there a tactile method? Personally, I miss physical buttons. I can only think of workarounds, such as using "keyboard shortcuts" on a Bluetooth keyboard connected to my mobile device. This would sort of work for me, but would be cumbersome and conceptually abstract for a non-tech-savvy person. I'm almost considering a return to cassette-tape books aka "Books on Tape"...

I don't even know what to ask for. You are such a blessing! I really appreciate being able to hear experiences of others who have a disability or something other thing that effects someone that we otherwise can not understand. It's so important for us to be corrected from our misconceptions, so thank you ❤️❤️❤️ Also, not related, but elbows up!✌️ So sorry for the insanity coming from my country right now. That's not what you're channel's about, just wanted to say that. Much love from the sane of us; we're trying to fix it💔✌️❤️‍

I have just subscribed. I’m sighted, but my parents are losing their sight, so I thought I might find some interesting ways to help them. Also, I want to see what you are wearing. I love period dress and your wardrobe is just lovely. Thank you.
