History in the Making: Cannabis Workers Strike After Union Illegally Denied Vote By Owner!
🌿✊ Budtenders Make History!
Cannabis workers have gone on strike — and it’s happening right here in Ann Arbor. Why? Because their dispensary tried to pull a fast one, blocking their legal right to vote for a union. The excuse? “Cannabis isn’t federally legal.” That’s not just wrong, it’s illegal.
Budtenders are the backbone of the industry — the ones who know the products, serve the patients, and keep the culture alive. They deserve respect, fair wages, benefits and a real voice at work.
This disgusting lie serves one purpose. To tell the workers to sit down, shut up and get back to work. The simple fact is it’s not illegal for cannabis workers to unionize — the NLRB protects their rights like any other industry, and there are already budtender unions active in Michigan today, proving the owners contemptuous attempts at manipulating and intimidate worker is just that. Manipulation and intimidation. The owner deployed malicious tactics like blasting music to drown them out and even directed harmful truck exhaust at their demonstration which makes this response all the more egregious.
This strike isn’t just about one shop. It’s about setting a precedent for the whole industry. If budtenders win, every cannabis worker across the country takes a step forward. In a world where CEO pay has increased 1500% while in workers wages have been stagnant for 50+ years. We need to stand in solidarity with the workers of Exclusive Dispensary in Ann Arbor to help them obtain fair wages and promised benefits.
