I’m torn between the extra space of a narrow bed vs. the comfort of a wider one. I just finished this budget build for my 2015 Sienna with three goals:

1. Under $200 (Came in around ~$180 all-in).
2. Simple tools only.
3. MAX storage behind the third row.

I ended up using a slightly narrower frame to keep the "garage" storage area open, but I’m curious what the group thinks.

For the solo campers here: Do you run a 24" sleeper to save space, or do you sacrifice storage for the full 30"?

Wider Bed absolutely, remove the other chair for more space.

Gotta get good sleep - go with the wider bed.

My van is 120 centimetres wide. My bed is 55 centimetres wide (and 170 centimeters long)

@ggbetz

I think it entirely depends on your build (both within the car and your body), as well as your needs.

@TheHappyKricket

I compromised at 27" and my bed widens at the door to give me extra width and that part of the build I put on hinges so I can reach underneath my bed without having to open the sliding door
