Ok, those of you who own a tablet, what do you use it for?

For context, I don’t own one and am curious of what I’m missing out on.

@DorkEnormous

I use my ipad Pro 12.9 inch mostly for work. I take a lot of notes and enjoy being able to have PDF files and other office related apps readily available in the palm of my hand. Now when it comes to play, I use it to watch videos when I'm just lounging around, use it in my kitchen when I'm watching step-by-step tutorials for cooking/baking and I use it as a 2nd monitor for my MacBook Air.

All of the above (work/play/other). Many functional reasons to own a tablet (& a tablet over a iPad).

I reach for a tablet pretty often. As a portable media consumption device it's far better than a phone, especially when sitting in chemotherapy for hours. I use it to control my astrophotography telescope, as the larger screen helps me ensure my focus is as good as it can be. I even do some mild video editing on it. Paired with an Xbox controller, it does a good job of being a portable gaming device. It probably gets used about as much as my personal laptop.

At home, I watch YouTube videos on my tablet rather than on my phone because of the much larger screen. I also occasionally use it to create shorts (not very complicated, quick to upload). Mainly, it is my notebook (for YouTube stuff), calendar and basis for occasionally watching series. I never use the tablet for gaming. The tablet syncs via Microsoft cloud with the computer so that I always have the most important data with me, even when I'm on the go. It's a multi-tool, so to speak :)

For work and for play. It’s my travel companion for trips but not on the daily. Looking to try editing videos on it

I have an ipad pro its a 12.3 inch one and works pretty good but i only use it for watching youtube videos and controlling my Roland Integra 7 Sound Module for my keyboard for making instrumental music. The screen is very large and allows me to see my seetings better. 😅 im sure others use it more productively

It is an essential tool for a range of tasks when portability is better or when a task calls for a pencil rather than a mouse. I teach design and use an iPad for visual presentations, notating articles for discussion, meeting notes, reviewing student work in studio, light photo/video editing. After 5pm it is my record keeper, book, newspaper, and YouTube viewer. Its functionality depends on being in the Apple ecosystem with my phone and laptop, and requires many paid apps. I do regret being part of such a consumerist cycle, but it would be hard to give up the capability a tablet affords.

My wife and I each bong a tablet a couple of years ago and quickly realized that we had absolutely no practical use for it whatsoever. We each have a good light laptop and could not find any Preston for them in any way.

@wruehl

I use mine with my teleprompter for when I need high precision speech on a video. Not all the time, but when I need it, it's really good.

For playing sound bath recordings at bedtime. Anything else I do, I either do on my phone or desktop.

I use mine for consuming content, a few emails and texts, and that’s about it

Trying to get a smallish tablet that doesn't feel like a brick or something that at least helps me do work that's difficult to see in my smartphones. Tryna make it a bit more versatile and not rely on my laptop which is a bulky gaming one 😂
