Pretty random but I felt like making a post sharing characters that have grown on me. Specifically ones who I was indifferent to during a first impression but then won me over during their respective stories or game campaigns. I feel like instances like these don't get talked about enough, so I'm curious about all of you fellas. Which characters did you grow to appreciate a lot more over time? Examples can be from any game or media!

For Genshin, i used to neglect Yoimiya a lot... and i still kinda do 🤪 But, i'll admit, she grew a lot on me over the years. I came to appreciate her simplicity, since she's an Inazuma character who wasn't set out to do anything grandiose in scope, and that might have been her saving grace, since she couldn't possibly disappoint, like the writing for a good chunk of the Inazuma cast did. Also, i used to give zero fucks about Hu Tao too, but she still managed to be one of the overall funniest characters to play for me in my Genshin experience. I also didn't dislike her recent role in the lantern rite festival. I'm not madly in love, but i can at least say i now like Hu Tao

To ask about "which character?" is a very hard thing to answer, because every character "helps" me in a way, friends or villain. . I would like to write more, but then it will be seen as "yapping".

Griffith grew on me and made me like him... As a villain. Only as a villain

Ironically, my favorite character of Genshin, the Raiden Shogun, is one I used to not like a bit, but then grew to love.

Dori from Genshin. I still am not a fan of her as a person/character. I used to be the number one Dori hater. But I have backed off on the hating for one thing only: she is actually a really good support. I will only acknowledge her worthiness to be on Hyperbloom teams and nothing else. Lol

In my case it would be Xinyan and Ningguang I guess. Xinyan didn't really have a lot of lore after her release but I still found her style intriguing enough to pull her even if she was (and still is, sadly) a bit weird to play. I've grown to love her after the Golden Archipelago and the Lantern Rites events since we got to know way more about her than "oh she's just a rock'n'roll girlie from Liyue". As for Ningguang, she was one of my first 4* characters back when I was still playing the Mondstadt Archon Quest so I only used her when I wanted to throw rocks at ennemies (and I didn't really like her base outfit tbh)... And then after the end of the Liyue arc she became one of my favorite 4*. I loved learning more about her past during her hangout events + the follow up quest about the Jade Chamber

Used to hate Arlecchino because of how overrated she was by the community despite her supposedly being a child abuser at the time...but now, I've joined the Arlecchino simps because my ex-girlfriend relates a lot to Arlecchino minus some of the scary parts of her personality...on top of having Collei's joyful demeanor.
