This is the sad result of lawmakers recognising something is wrong with social media, but assuming adults will be fine and the problem is just that they need to protect kids with underdeveloped brains from it. Doomscrolling and radicalisation are not issues unique to teenagers, and I honestly think their effects on the middle aged and elderly has done far more damage to society. I don’t know how threatening to make materials more expensive through import tax and changing economic policy every other day could possible slow down job growth. That just doesn’t make sense! Next you’ll tell me cut revenue and increased spending is going to grow our deficit! Can’t wait for TCJA part 2, it went so well the first time.

There's a certain wry humor in the that the thing that was once supposed to be the ultimate frontier for creativity, expression and thought - i.e. the internet - is becoming (and to an extent, already has) - the greatest surveillance and information gathering device in history.

They use a guessing algorithm for use in personalized advertising. It's been subtle and clunky on an enjoyable level. I'm all for safer internet but I'll miss the tampon ads.
