Lewie and the Rover

Update from the road – Hello Romania!

We were really looking forward to Poland. We thought it would be the perfect warm-up before heading into the Carpathians. But to be honest… it turned out to be a bit of a letdown.

Off-roading in Poland is quite restricted, especially in the mountain regions. And we quickly discovered that dogs aren't allowed in most national parks. Which meant poor Lewie had to miss out on all the good spots. So after a few days of trying, we made the call: let’s skip ahead to Romania.

And honestly, that was the best decision we’ve made in a long time.

We’ve only been here for four days, but we’ve already had some of the best off-road adventures of the past year. Romania gives us that rare feeling of freedom again — like we’re truly overlanding, exploring, finding our own way.

In Scandinavia everything is so organized and regulated. Beautiful, sure, but… safe. Here in Romania? It’s wild. It’s muddy. It’s raw. We’ve already tackled some seriously gnarly tracks, crawled through deep ruts, and powered through thick, sticky mud.

We’re starting to think Romania might just be our favorite overland destination in Europe.

The film we’re making here is shaping up to be something special. And we’re pretty sure it’s going to convince you too — Romania is still raw, still real, and if you love that sense of true adventure, you need to come here soon.

More soon from the trail!
