Not since childhood! Susumba peas and I go way back. I must say that every single childhood memory I have surrounding Susumba peas are unpleasant. I was eight years old when my aunt instructed me to pick the Susumba peas from the bush in our backyard. I recall sitting down on the porch steps on the verge of tears with a big bowl of freshly picked Susumba peas in my lap. My hands, arms, legs and even a small part of my face all bore the marks of the Susumba thorns. My little fingers stumbled with the task of taking the stems off each Susumba pea all while I was trying to hold back my tears, as not to vex my aunt. Now, for the taste and how I gagged when forced to finish them off my plate, is a story best left for my therapist 🤦🏾♀️… Unfortunately, I was traumatized by my childhood experiences with Susumba peas.
