He is far left of me. But I still find his commentary and insights really illuminating. He challenges assumptions of mine and I really enjoy the intellectual experience of having my mind changed with reason and argument. I think he is a vastly underrated public intellectual who is courageous enough to take on and critique issues that nearly all left of Centre would rather ignore.

Well here's something kinda nutty. As long as people express their political policy preferences using facts, reality, critical thinking, empathy, etc I feel we are on the same page politically. That includes people to the "left" and "right" of me. But as soon as they lie, call names, engage in sensationalism, try to manipulate me, etc. I view them explicitly as either to the right/left. I think Mr. Sam as being in the same political spectrum as I.
