History of the Universe

There seem to be countless A.I. slop clones of History of the Universe on YouTube now.

Two/three hours long, with structureless AI scripts, AI editing and visuals, and creepy sounding AI impressions of my voice, or the voice of ‪@astrumspace‬ or ‪@SEA‬. These channels seem able to pump out hours of content almost every day. In the past we have even caught these channels lifting scripts wholesale from our videos.

This is your yearly reminder that I am real - I narrate and produce the videos on History of the Universe - and it takes me ages in a recording booth.

History of the Universe is animated and edited by the incredible ‪@ArtandContext‬ and Siji Sheehan, and our thumbnails are created by the genius human artist Ettore Mazza.

The scripts are written by professional physicists: ‪@PaulMSutter‬, ‪@ColinStuartspace‬, ‪@AlasLewisAndBarnes‬ and others - who craft them with their imagination and vast knowledge of the subject from years of studying and teaching.

Every moment and beat of the story is crafted with care and purpose by a human.

These are human documentaries made by and for humans.

Now and forever.

It's so sad watching all of the creators I love struggling with the same AI Slop issue that is genuinely poisoning YT. Please know that me and thousands of others really appreciate the hard work that goes behind every video and will continue to support real, human content regardless of how many AI channels start popping up

I'm so glad you have these reminders 😅 I just found your channel. I was unsure if it was real or not, considering AI has gotten so realistic, but your videos are amazing!

I think one of the worst parts is that it makes you less likely to find/seek out new creators. I know the channels I like, I know they are real, that's fine. But where in the past I would give new creators a try, now I am much much more likely to skip any recommendations because 90% of them are AI, so if you're a genuine new creator you have a huge battle just to even be seen.

We should go to WAR against AI slop creators.

No ai can genuinely sound the way you do. You turn Science into poetry and a story of hardships, resilience, and understanding. We appreciate you, and channels like yours!

I have also recognized your exact scripts being used word for word in many of their videos. even the same reference images but without even adding citations like you do. its obvious that you are the best at this, and they train using your content. I have learned so much because of your teams' work. thank you.

You and Astrum are two of the only channels i trust to make real engaging cosmos content. I'll check out SEA too.

Once upon a time when I first found your channel I would sleep to it, and then it became that YouTube would automatically recommend channels and videos alike to this one. Well in my half asleepness I'd found that it was recommending slop. It was then that I'd decided to put your videos onto a playlist and just play from there. That was a few years ago already. I'm glad I learned that quickly, and I'm glad you're saying something now. Please never let the channel turn to slop! You're putting out amazing work, literally! You are a good person to culminate and share all that is in here. Thank you dude

Love hearing content creators who love their craft speak out against this garbage. You and SEA will always be the best! I’d like to also give a shout out to Mr. David Butler!

@Zombie_Chess

this series has been one of my favourites, and I will often go back and rewatch several of the videos in the series rather than any one of those on the AI rubbish heap

Your videos are so special. AI is no comparison. It’s really annoying these channels can do this. Thank you for all your hard work

You are my favorite science channel of all time and nobody can match the passion you put into these projects, but not especially a few thieves and robots.

That's exactly why your content has incredible repeat value and a true soul to it. Never be discouraged and please keep doing what you're doing. ❤️

It's really easy to tell. I love your content because the animations are always related to what you are narrating The others just look like a computer desktop background playing over and over again

Yes. Noticed the thumbnails for them but never click on them. Love your content, animation etc. As a former physicist and teacher, I appreciate the effort, skill and research that goes into producing each amazing hour of this educational content. Shared the link to your channel too.
