In napoleonic wars, when the french army tried to flee moscow, they ate their horses because they couldn’t replenish their food to moscow (because it was burned down). The russian saw them and it became an insult in russian. When the french saw a horse they screamed "Ch’val ! Ch’val !" (Short for cheval) and the russian took it and used it as an insult. One of my russian teachers told me this story. I don’t know if it is 100% true, but the post made me remember this story.

Uncle Sun Tzu warned us about that, but we didn't listen. And now we paid the price.
