No pepper but ginger. Had it with pepper in the Philippines and it was good. Different, but good.

I remember getting these made into a treat inside some spoons (like a candy made from it), and also the spicy sticks with tamarind and chili powder

I eat them straight from the shell. I learned the hard way not to do that with sour tamarind though. Whatever acid makes them sour completely wrecked my mouth . Another strange thing that started happening as I got older, is pineapple started decimating my mouth because of the bromelain enzyme. The question is, did my physiology change as I’m aging, or are corporate farms just picking pineapple way too early now? It makes me think it’s the latter because canned pineapple doesn’t do this. Has anyone else had to stop eating fresh pineapple? It makes me so sad.

A little, salt and pepper and a little garlic combined with the tangy flavor of the tamarind. Yummy!

Tamarind Time! This is pure nostalgia! This sweet and tangy treat is extremely simple...I have a video coming up showing how to make them the Jamaican way, but I want to know...how do you like your tamarind?
Do you keep it classic with just sugar, or do you add a little pepper for that extra kick? Maybe you just crack the shell and eat it straight? Drop a comment and let me know!
