[The Story Foretold]

Repost for underlined text was omitted in YT. I wanted this verse to reveal something mysterious about the blamelessness and preservation of the old man's fleshly vessel since it is a rarity to read these statements about the body in scripture. 1Th5:23 and Ro8 are the 2 main areas that speak to this idea. 1Co15 speaks to the new robes upon us, a bit different. The Greek's conclusion is not what we have in the English. Nothing new under the sun.

[1Th 5:23 KJV] 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Αὐτὸς δὲ ὁ θεὸς τῆς εἰρήνης ἁγιάσαι ὑμᾶς ὁλοτελεῖς καὶ ὁλόκληρον ὑμῶν τὸ πνεῦμα καὶ ἡ ψυχὴ καὶ τὸ σῶμα ἀμέμπτως ἐν τῇ παρουσίᾳ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ τηρηθείη

Him and the God the peace sanctify (V-Aorist) you whole (ADJ-NS) and your the pneuma/spirit (N-NS) and the psyche/soul (N-SF) and the soma/body (N-NS) blameless (ADV) in the coming/appearing (N) of the Lord of our Jesus Christ will be preserved (V-Aorist).

The Adverb, 'blameless', either belongs to ‘being preserved’ or ‘sanctify’.

1. Him and the God of peace blamelessly sanctify you whole, and your spirit and soul and body in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ will be preserved.

2. Him and the God of peace sanctify you whole, and your spirit and soul and body in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ blamelessly will be preserved.

1. Blameless belongs to the sanctification action of God.

2. Blameless belongs to the glorification and preservation action of God in His coming.

Either way, the actions of salvation on God’s part are blameless. The accuser has proclaimed that God is guilty of unjustified restoration of His creation in forgiveness of sin. The cross makes this judgement and action blameless.

The big difference in KJV vs. Greek is ‘unto’ the coming. ἐν: in (1,902x), by (163x), with (140x), among (117x), at (113x), on (62x), through (39x), miscellaneous (264x). Telling the reader his ‘spirit, soul and body is preserved blameless unto the coming’ implies that before Jesus arrives the body is blamelessly preserved, i.e. hath no corruption of sin. This is opposite of 1Co15:50-54 where Paul teaches that the corruptible must put on incorruption, speaking of the robes of the old and new bodies. Rather than ‘unto’ the text reads, ‘the spirit, soul and body will be preserved blameless ‘in, by, with, at, through’ the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.’

**Thus, in this understanding (which still needs tweaking), it is the event of the glorification and coming of God that manifests the body’s blamelessness and preservation in its transformation not the action of God to heal the old vessel or work of man to make his body blameless before, unto, the coming of Christ.

Preserved; τηρηθείη: keep (57x), reserve (8x), observe (4x), watch (2x), preserve (2x), keeper (1x), hold fast (1x). ‘The spirit, soul and body will be kept blameless in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.’

2. Him and the God of peace sanctify you whole; and your spirit and soul and body, in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ blamelessly will be kept.

The preservation is aimed at the Lord’s coming, not at the believer’s Spirit, soul and body. Preserved, kept, reserved, observed speak to the appointment of time for the event of the glorification. ‘Appointed time’ is a object noun, but preserved; τηρηθείη is a verb action tied to its noun. In the Greek the two nouns closest to the preservation are Jesus Christ and His coming.

Thus, ‘preserved, kept, observed, reserved’ is tied to the appointed time of Christ’s coming, not the believer’s spirit, soul or body.

** Thus, the ** paragraph is not the proper interpretation that speaks to the preservation and blamelessness of the body.

1. Blameless belongs to the action of God’s salvation in either the sanctification or glorification (the Greek does not distinguish), not the spirit, soul and body of the believing man.

2. Likewise, the preservation is not unto the spirit, soul and body of the believer, rather, the appointed time of Jesus Christ’s coming in Glory.

To correct the premise of the ** paragraph’s statement:
It is the event of the glorification and coming of God that manifests God’s blamelessness for the preserved, appointed time, of His coming resulting in the transformation the old body’s vessel, man’s spirit and soul in His glory. The preserved time of Christ’s coming shall be kept.

Therefor the literal Greek to English translation is:

“Jesus and the God of peace blamelessly has sanctified you whole; your spirit and soul and body, in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, that shall be kept.”

This statement is about the promise of the glorification of the body at His coming, not that the body is preserved and blameless now.

Thank you 🙏 It’s interesting that the verses used to whip us into to action and cause many to feel condemned, if translated correctly say the opposite. In the current translations they stand out to me as incongruent to the simple truth of the gospel yet those few verses are given so much weight….its so confusing when caught in the PSYOP. Really appreciate the clarifications!!
