For modern gaming, I'm still using my Xbox One X for Xbox stuff and have a launch PS5 alongside it.

For sure, wanted to get a Series S as a travel console but at $400 I'll pass. Only used would I buy one now and same for the Series X at $650

Got my XSS for $299 at launch. No complaints for what it is other than small storage that required proprietary SSD when it was released

As others have said, Xbox one still plays many modern gen games perfectly fine for about half this price.

I have a series S only because I couldn't find the series X back in 2021 ANYWHERE But honestly getting one now wouldn't do much, I use my 360 more these days.

You can get an Xbox One X which is a very solid 4K capable console for pretty cheap (around the $100 range) it’s only con being that you obviously can’t play Series X/S titles on it BUT for the price it can’t really get better.

Then I picked it up and was like, "WTF, why is it at heavy. I thought this was my Xbox, what did my wife order?".. thinking she ordered like a Roomba or something. Nope, as I opened the box, I could see 2 brand new Xbox X boxes like mirroring images right next to each other. I was like a kid at Christmas, I woke my son up from a dead sleep and told him to come open the box the rest of the way. We were dancing around the living room like kids πŸ˜‚πŸ˜….. I FINALLY got one over on Xbox. A few days later they raised the unlimited game pass price to $30 a month. 😒😒😒 My joy didn't last long πŸ˜…πŸ˜’ but hey, each Xbox X only cost me $275 each. What a
