Did you know that in November 2019 I played my first solo show in Austin, TX at none other than @parkerjazzclub? I was living in LA at the time. Austin had taken me by surprise on a recent tour I had been on with Dave Koz. (I had been there before with Postmodern Jukebox but I really only saw the inside of a bus and the inside of the Paramount that day). I was intrigued by the town, the music scene, the people…and the barbecue 🥩.
Parker Jazz Club was nice enough to have my band over. We played 2 shows for 2 killer audiences. I’m certain I’ve had audiences just as fabulous elsewhere (Ohio, you always win in my book!), but something about that night was special. Got me feeling revived… Got me scrolling on Zillow too…
Fast forward almost 6 years and I’ve now lived here 5. Yep. We up and moved to Austin after that fateful Parker Jazz Club show, in part BECAUSE of that Parker Jazz Club show.
So needless to say, this club has a special place in my heart. I’m grateful I get to bring the horn band over next week, along with my dear friend and crooning, trumpet-playing machine @ilyaserov as special guest. Tickets are almost gone so grab yours today. Bring your family (or not!). There’s not a bad seat in the house.
