Good advice to avoid Square. They've gotten much too powerful. Happy to hear you found a better solution 🙌

You are one step closer to Clippy! Clippy would never ignore when a client needs help!

Damn that sucks man! Hope you'll be able to reconstruct everything without too much trouble on the new website. Tbh, to me everything feels bit too unstable or temporary lately, making every decision seem questionable with the outlook on the future. Best of luck to you and your team.

Have you tried deleting your cookies, cache, etc? And/or use another device to access the editor? The version of the editor where everything is gone might be running from your browser cache, in which case you should once again pull the unbroken state from their server as soon as your cache etc is cleared. BTW, I say "and/or another device", because there is also a slight chance that your current broken session on the one device is holding you back from getting an untainted one on another device.

Howard Wimshurst Animation
Status update of the Animator Guild Anual Film Contest.
Long story short: I completely lost the ability to update the Animator Guild website.
I was doing some back-end work inside the weebly editor, uploading reference images to our web server (weebly is website builder I have always used to build and update animator guild) for Motion lab www.animatorguild.com/motion-lab.html
Then suddenly... poof! everything inside the site editor was deleted. Every page was just blank white. Luckily I had not hit the "publish" button, so as long as I don't publish any changes to the website, everything stays as it is. The website has been frozen in its current state for months now. It works, but I can't update it without losing everything.
This is no longterm solution. There are many things waiting to be released, including a free version of the Motion Lab lifedrawing interface, new packs, courses, and the launch of the new short film contest.
When I contacted them, they couldn't offer anything to save the website. They said they can't restore it (despite the website clearly still being loaded from their servers somewhere). There was a forum thread dating back many years where dozens of people had reported the same error happening to them. Now that thread with all the complaints appears to have been deleted.. And they have not patched it. The only solution is to hop in a time machine and back up your website before it crashes (which I did not do).
There's no way I'm going to stay with square/weebly after this betrayal. So I'm working with an amazing developer (www.capercube.com/) to rebuild the site from scratch without the reliance on an unstable third party editor. It will look even better than before, and in the long term, it could massively expand the potential of the website.
It's a big project to rebuild, so it's taking time to reconstruct.
We have had to place the start date of the contest / announcement on hold until the new website is finished. In the meantime, www.animatorguild.com/ is functioning completely normally.
I'm mainly writing this because I'm bitter about Square - the company that acquired weebly. I've been with them from the very star. They turned their back on me and DOZENS of other website creators who have had the same fatal error.
For anyone wanting to laugh at my choice of website editor - 2012 was a very different internet to what we have today. Back then Weebly was actually one of the best options for someone like me.
DON'T start a website with Weebly. They don't deserve your money.
