BioShock 2 is still one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE VIDEO GAMES EVER. I love every moment of it even though the final battle was not as epic as the first one but the endings were so beautiful and excellent on my PS3.

I'm enjoying your takes on these games that I've considered playing, because I've found that we have similar tastes in games. Thanks for writing these reviews!

I admit i too rank B2 at the lowest of the three. Infinite is very different though, taking place elsewhere with a (mostly) different story. That said gameplay is similar, but I found it to be the better of the three. If the games don’t tickle your fancy, the novel “Rapture” by John Shirley is quite good and explains a lot about certain characters and what’s occurring in the first two games. Well worth a read. Shame you didn’t enjoy the series so far but hey, that’s just how it goes sometimes!

That’s unfortunate. I played Bioshock 2 first and was immediately hooked, I loved the 1940s era atmosphere and the voice acting and the lore. Then I played Bioshock 1 and it felt meh and I didn’t like Bioshock infinite at all. So I guess I liked Bioshock 2 only because of its novelty

I think instead of rating it 3/10, you should have rated it Not my kind of game/10.

If you didn't like Bioshock 1 or 2 you might still want to give Infinite a go, it's a more linear FPS with not much backtracking or puzzles. I played through these games on PS3 & PS4 and never had any issues, looking around it seems like Minerva's Den not saving is a PC issue.

Not sure who told you it was a big step up. It’s a massive downgrade from the first game, probably because it was made by a different studio while the original worked on Infinite. Based on your complaints, I think you’ll definitely like Infinite more. Both the storytelling and gameplay are actually big upgrades on 2 (not even close), and feel a lot more modern and polished than 1 (which feels even older than it actually is). That being said, it still doesn’t seem like these games are your cup of tea in general since you don’t seem to be a fan of their stories and atmosphere, which are their strongest aspects (aside from Bioshock 2, which just all-around sucks).

I wasn’t that excited to play this one, especially after not enjoying the first BioShock. But I was told BioShock 2 was a big step up, so I went in with an open mind. Unfortunately, I still didn’t enjoy it—and in some ways, I found it worse.
The game throws you in with little explanation. You’re expected to just know what’s going on, and I didn’t care for all the constant, meaningless tape recordings. The story didn’t pull me in at all.
Controls are still clunky, just like the first game. Movement is slow, melee is sluggish, and shooting feels weak and unsatisfying. Every weapon feels like it’s firing blanks. Somehow enemies in the same suit as you are absolute bullet sponges, while you die in just a few hits. It’s ridiculous.
Puzzles are basic and uninspired. There’s a lot of backtracking and constantly fighting the same few enemy types again and again. Upgrades barely felt like they did anything. You’re just going through the motions.
The only thing I found remotely better than the first game was the change in scenery across sections instead of reusing the same locations repeatedly.
Now the performance—it was genuinely awful. Constant stutters and crashes, even in the remastered version. And when it crashes, it reloads the entire chapter. I had to redo huge sections multiple times. The DLC has no saves or checkpoints, so when I crashed an hour into it, it restarted everything. I turned it off immediately after that.
By the end, I just wanted it to be over. It bored me. It frustrated me. I didn’t enjoy a single part of it. I simply don’t get the hype.
And now I’m honestly questioning whether I should even bother with BioShock Infinite after how underwhelming both these games were.

Worse than BioShock 1—and I didn’t think that was possible.
