Gratitude has the power to change everything, not because it changes our situation, but because it changes us.
When life feels hard, our eyes often focus on what’s missing, the unanswered prayer, the delay, the struggle. But when we choose gratitude, our perspective shifts. We begin to see that even in ordinary moments, God’s goodness is everywhere.
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18, KJV)
God doesn’t ask us to be thankful for everything, but in everything. Because even in the middle of chaos, He’s still working. Gratitude opens our hearts to see His hand in the little details, the breath in our lungs, the meal on the table, the people who love us, the peace that comes when we pray.
“O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” (Psalm 107:1, KJV)
When we start to thank God for what we already have, we begin to realize how much we were overlooking. Gratitude doesn’t ignore pain, it just chooses to notice grace in the middle of it.
So today, take a moment to slow down. Look around. There are blessings hiding in plain sight, small reminders that God is faithful, even on the ordinary days.
“Lord, I thank You for the one reading this right now. Open their eyes to see Your blessings in the everyday moments. Teach them to live with a grateful heart, to recognize Your goodness even in the small things. Fill their life with peace, joy, and constant remembrance of Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
