2025 is turning out to be an interesting year with so many new things happening at Reely Interesting!
2025年は、「Reely Interesting」で多くの新しいことが起こる、興味深い年になりそうだ！
In May, I uploaded the first uncompressed digital HD video from the amazing Sony HDD-1000 video tape recorder. That upload only showed part of the amazing hardware to you. This month's upload explores one more unique feature of the HDD-1000, multi-channel audio! In addition to uncompressed 1035i HD, the HDD-1000 could store up to 8 tracks of uncompressed, 48kHz audio. This could be used for storing multiple microphone feeds, or multiple program languages, or, in this case, it was used for a multi-channel surround sound audio! This week's upload, "Panasonic's Adventures In Audiana" features a discrete 4.1 channel soundtrack which was processed & adapted to YouTube's 5.1 surround sound specifications. This means that if you watch the video on devices such as an Apple TV, Google TV, Nvidia Shield, many Roku devices, and other modern YouTube-compatible devices made for home theater use, you can experience the original surround sound audio track on your 5.1-compatible sound system! Be sure to check it out if you can!

This month also introduces the results of a project that I've been working on for a long time. Next week, I'll be posting our first VHD capture using a brand-new process. VHD discs are notoriously hard to capture for a multitude of reasons, including unusual time-base instability which affects the ability to use many of the usual high-quality capture devices. I've been through dozens of devices to determine the process which can provide the best balance between high-quality picture and good image stability and I think I finally found it. While the video I originally hoped to post this month, could not be posted and the scheduled video doesn't really show off the process, I hope you'll find it is still significantly better than previous VHD uploads.
今月は、私が長い間取り組んできたプロジェクトの結果も紹介する。来週は、まったく新しいプロセスを使った初のVHDキャプチャを掲載する予定だ。VHDディスクはキャプチャが難しいことで有名だが、その理由はタイムベースが不安定なため、通常の高品質キャプチャ・デバイスの多くが使えないからだ。私は、高画質と画像の安定性の間で最高のバランスを提供できるプロセスを決定するために、何十台ものデバイスを試してきましたが、ついにそれを見つけたと思います。当初、今月中に投稿する予定だった動画は投稿できず、予定していた動画ではそのプロセスをあまりお見せすることはできませんが、それでも以前のVHDアップロードより格段に良くなっていることを分かっていただけると思います。
Finally, I've been gathering A LOT of new materials lately. So many, in fact, that it would take years to post them all at the current rate! So, in addition to the usual uploads every Thursday, there will be more "bonus" uploads on random weekends. In addition, instead of posting "special" uploads only on the first Thursday of the month or only during events, I'll now be posting 2 "special" uploads per month! So expect many additional exciting uploads this month and over the course of future months and be sure to hit the notification icon so you never miss an upload!
