I have a hard time with that saying. My first husband died of a heart attack at 49. My kids are devastated without him. Also children die everyday by all types of causes. Saying they died for a reason is very tough to Swallow. There are lots more situations but I'd be here all day.

Sorry to sound like a misery-guts, but so many awful things have happened to people who don’t deserve it and I’ve lost family members far too young so I struggle to think that there’s any justice or reason behind it.

I work in the funeral service, and I do not believe things happen for a reason.

Sometimes. But other times it's a conscious deliberate action that brings around usually horrible results. Or amazing life changes.

Only if the reason the thing happened is because of the other things that lead to it…Like, my husband set me on fire because he was drunk, so I make it clear before entering a relationship that because of this I cannot be around drinkers. If I just thought “it happened for a reason” then continued on, I’d no longer be here

I do. I understand that many times we can't figure out what in the world the reason could be. I've been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. I'm dying. Why? I've been a good person most of my life. I've gone to church since age 5 and I'm nearly 57. I've always been the peacemaker in most situations. I've never been arrested, divorced, or anything like that. My husband died at age 42 due to his heart. My son was 13 when his dad died. Sadly he got into drugs. We moved to another state and my son went child turkey and is now drug-free. I've done my best in this life, so tell me why I'm in pain so often and I have a death sentence? I feel like I know the reason. It's so that my reaction to everything has not been to be angry at God or the situations I face. Also, to show others, who are going through similar things, that you have to keep the faith and keep living and loving your life as it has been dealt to you. I hope this part of my testimony helps someone. Peace 🕊

Everything happens for a reason, just not for us to know that reason

Of course everything happens for a reason. But that doesn’t mean it has to be some religious or spiritual bullshit.

I do not believe it is a definite yes, or no. I think there are some occurrences that result due to prior situations. I believe that there is a spiritual side, good and bad, that can manipulate, or even cause occurrences and that those can be pre-determined by our choices and actions in life. However, I believe the majority of occurrences just simply happen.

Just out of curiosity, do you believe things happen for a reason?
