Muh notes (from the featured video and my own): - it's not the "main thing" actually - the "substance" is what really matters at the core (ex. story) - your "style" is simply an efficient way for you to actualize the "substance" (You don't have to worry about which colors to pick because you pretty much have a certain set of colors that you go for.) - it's a system of your best practices in art (tools, techniques, programs, approaches, mindsets, theories, etc.) - your style takes away or solves the huge list of small decisions so you can focus more on the big ideas/decisions/concepts - "Style is the perfect setting for that substance to be cultivated. Why? Because style is efficient." (Creative Pep Talk)
Signs to looks out for when finding/developing your style:
- it's fun to do. The process is enjoyable. You're not punishing yourself to just "finish" your art.
- looks good to YOU in the end. "Not bad" is good enough. You can set your standards higher if need be.
- gets your ideas out in a timely manner that make sense to you or for the kind of work you do.
