Right after making this post, my appeal was granted! Thank goodness. Still, the video was irreparably harmed because its snowball of progress was halted in the algorithm. Still leaving this post active so that people can be aware of how this works, and with a link to the original uncensored (free) content on Patreon.

That was a great video and I see why Russia is desperate to take it down

I'm wondering why YT isn't able or willing to take adequate countermeasures to prevent the abuse of their automatic censoring system. As a senior software engineer, I can tell there are many ways to mitigate the issue significantly.

I"m subscribed to both channels so to not miss anything. Good that you are posting about struggles with YT so the people learn and subscribe more. Good work!

You know you're doing something right when the kremlin coming after you...

I was fortunate to be able to watch the video. Thank you - a very nice production. I think you are correct in that this is work by Russian trolls/agents to use YT guidelines against the creator(s) of certain videos.

And even if you ever get a guy reviewing it its an indian dude 90 percent of the time...guess what happens with his 'review'.

I've just experienced the "pausing" of a subscription channel membership that I have (somewhat denigrating of Putin's regime admittedly)... I know the provider would never pause, so therefore YouTube did it. I have demanded access to this feed from YouTube along with a detailed explanation of why they have impeded my access. We need to hold YouTube to account, as a community, as they almost seem to be an adjunct to Putin's information ministry!

Too bad there’s no other major video platform that can compete with YouTube

I saw this update quite by accident on the YT "home" page and realised I hadn't seen any videos from your channel in quite some time. I use my subscriptions page as my go-to page for YT, so there's no reason why I shouldn't be seeing them when they come out. I double checked that I'm still subscribed, which I am. I've tried a version of "turn it off and on again", by unsubscribing, then re-subscribing. Let's hope I start seeing your videos again on my subscription page. Has this happened to anyone else? I know YT sometimes likes to unsubscribe people on channels they have issues with, but I've never heard anyone complain about not seeing channels on their subscriptions page when they've subscribed - and still ARE subscribed - to that channel.

The way to beat the Ruskies who mass report is to join Icarus’s Patreon. I just joined, so let’s all support this channel by supporting it financially!

Okay, I take back what I said from my comment on the first update on this. It really is a final desperate attempt for Russia to control the narrative, not mention that despite how worthless the ruble is, money is money. Still, at least you won this time.

The Icarus Project
Age-restricted and demonetized again! The last video was well on the path to 1,000,000 or more views, but now it is dead in the algorithm.
Unfortunately, Russian trolls will mass report videos that are damaging to the Kremlin's position. There is nothing in the video that violates community guidelines, but YouTube's automatic censoring systems don't seem to be believing that, and I can't seem to get a real human to review.
I've submitted an appeal, but to keep the entire channel from being flagged, unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to repost it again. We will see what happens.
It's not just about earning money on the video. Age-restrictions ruin the reach of videos, as users need to be logged in to view the video, and the majority of our viewers don't log in (they watch from televisions, etc.). What's also frustrating is that YouTube will continue to run ads on demonetized videos, and therefore collect revenue - they just don't share that revenue with the creator. It is used as a discouragement mechanism to force creators to get in line.
I will be posting the original video on Patreon, this time as a "free" tier, so that anyone can watch it: www.patreon.com/TheIcarusProject
