Question for all filmmakers: Do you log your footage?

@Jason-mk3nn

One of the easiest things that can be done to setup a production for success. Yes, takes time, but when archiving and following-up, it is priceless. It is too bad that tools for good logging are more cumbersome than they need to be, but in the end, still worth doing.

@AlisterRobbie

I’m working with Final Cut Pro. Super fast to mark up sections for subject, location, good and any other detail. Makes it so much faster in the edit and future edits for large multiday shoots, particularly when you know you’ll be coming back to this footage many times over the next year.

I log interviews in Builder or Descript, and b-roll in FCP using Favorites and tags.

@Bradidimus

Add script/field notes to clips. Identify and tag people/places/objects relevant to the story. Mark favorite moments. Reject/hide bad footage.
