Currently 3 months into rehabbing a badly sprained ankle and it's still not 100%. I'm in my mid/late thirties and I have a burning desire to dedicate myself to snowboarding, but I'm also wary of the risks involved. It's a frustrating mental struggle.

Good luck with the surgery. In 2007 I was snowboarding on Mount Tremblant in Quebec. I was just cruising down the mountain when a kid cut me off, I tried to turn away and caught an edge. I flew forward and punched the snow. I remember thinking that my skin felt tight. As I pulled my glove off I saw that my arm had snapped right above my wrist. My hand was kind of hanging to the side. It was dumping snow and we had to drive about an hour to the ER. I felt every bump in the road in my arm. Super painful and a long recovery. It’s been 17 years since that accident and I’m back 100% and now I have 2 sons that I take riding with me. Best sport ever. I wish you an easy recovery and can’t wait to see new content when you’re back on the slopes!!

Dude, I wish you all the success and best for a quick and full recovery! I've injured every part of my body doing most sports (kung-fu, figure skating, running, ballet, weightlifting, existing), lol! Luckily, I have never needed surgery, just physiotherapy. My current injuries are sprain and a pinched nerve in the lower back, and sprained finger flexors in both arms - from helping family move homes. Keep the faith, and best wishes!

I’ve had 3 knee surgeries now. The key thing is that just have a plan for your recovery. Ask your surgeon what the timelines are for movement, PT, full exercise etc. you will recover because you’re a bad ass and you have youth on your side but just make sure to not rush it, and have a plan so that you don’t re-injure yourself !! You got this bro!!

Pretty new at snowboarding, yet to ride on snow. I broke my ankle boarding the other week and that is the most I've done yet, I can say my leg is in pain after every session though lol. Good luck with your surgery:)

Speaking of pain... Hip surgery August 13th. 9 years ago I tore my labrum on my right hip doing a frontside 360 out of a rail: Due to lack of insurance and stubbornness, I avoided doing anything about this injury for years and finally 2 years ago I got surgery but it didnt make the pain go away so here we are again. Can you relate? Tell me your story and I’ll read every single story.
