Tomorrow's video is all about the BIGGEST skincare mistakes I've made and things I will NEVER do again now that I know TOO much as a Derm. What is the dumbest thing you have ever done to your skin? 😳

Please make a series for teen skin care. I am in high school and I watch your channel with my mom, who is in her 40s, and we love it! Thank you! I want to be taking care of my skin properly my whole life.

Sunbathed slathered in baby oil way back in the day, like a rotisserie chicken 🤣🫣

Tanning without spf on because I was told I wouldn’t tan if I slather myself in spf. Yikes. What’s worse is that during that time I was dealing with breakouts and post break out marks on my face and that’s when I laid out and tanned the most. Luckily I have reversed that by being consistent with my face treatments.

When I was a teenager, I was told to put rubbing alcohol on my skin to deal with my acne, yeah it burned!

In my teens: our fad was sunbathing for hours in a high altitude (closer to the sun) city ingesting aspirin (to open the pores to "tan better"? 🙄), drenched in baby oil mixed with lugol's iodine to give me "extra color" as I baked in the sun

25 years ago, I regularly made and applied a mask of baking soda and water, let it fully dry, washed it off with a cleaner. Heck, I don't remember what or if I even used a moisturizer.

Not using moisturizer and sunscreen on my face when I would apply Tazorac for my acne when I was a late teen/early twenties. My face would get so red, irritated, and any product I would apply to my face would sting. I didn't know any better, but thanks to Dermatologist/content creators like yourself, now I do.

No one taught me how to use retinol so when I started using it in my early 20s, I was burning my skin to the point of severe peeling 😬 I wouldn’t wear sunscreen either

Over exfoliate with 2% salycilic acid.. turns out it isn’t gentle enough for every day use on my skin

@MartiA0818

Tanning (getting burned bc I don’t tan), not using sunscreen and using rubbing alcohol for toner 😳

@betsybreaker

As a teen I used surgical scrub as my daily cleanser.

I used this garnier exfoliant/mask that you’re supossed to leave for like 10-15 minutes. Well i used to leave it for like an hour, my skin would get soooo tight but i loved it. Freaks me out now

@maumbeot

I used to wash my face with clorox to wipe out acne
