I need to talk about my channel name. “ToonTerraMine Gamer” has never sat well with me. Ever since I named my channel that I have always cringed at the name. Every time I think of the name I cringe.
The reason I named it that is because it’s named after the three games I played the most when I made the channel: Toontown, Terraria, and Minecraft. Those were the game I would focus on the most for my channel. I believe Roblox was also part of that list, but I couldn’t think of a way to incorporate “Blox” into the name without making it even more cringey.
This name doesn’t really describe my channel anymore and it hasn’t for a really long time. I don’t play Minecraft very often anymore and I haven’t even opened Terraria in years. I play Roblox more often than both of them. But these games are still important to me, as I still watch plenty of videos about them and watch for new updates. Toontown is like the only game I play seriously nowadays.
So, after many years of cringing at my own channel name and it no longer being relevant to me, I have made the decision to change it “Pokeliam45.”
I am known as “Pokeliam45” in almost every community. This name fits me a lot better. But you might be wondering what the origin behind this name is.
When I was very young, my siblings made their usernames on games be “Poke” plus their first names. This was because they were big fans of Pokémon. I followed suit and chose the username “Pokeliam” because my name is Liam. This name has been used to identify myself online for many years. I am much more comfortable with the name “Pokeliam” than “ToonTerraMine Gamer.” The latter doesn’t even make sense anymore.
Then what about the “45?” When I played Roblox, I have made 3 different accounts because I wasn’t satisfied with the first 2. The first one was “Pokeliam,” the second one was “Pokeliam4” because I just chose that number at random, and the third one was “Pokeliam45” because 5 is one more than 4 and thought it looked nice. I stopped making new accounts after that and officially associated myself with the name “Pokeliam45.” This is also the username I use on Discord. Anyone who has met me online would know me by that name, but a lot of the time (especially on Roblox), they would shorten it to “Poke.”
So here I am now, applying this to my YouTube channel as well (and I will change my Twitch username to reflect this too). This is actually the name I was going to change it to had I not been unbanned from Toontown Rewritten. It would be one of the many things I’d do to help me isolate myself from Toontown and move onto something else. Of course, I did get unbanned, so this reasoning no longer applies. But I still do think it fits me a lot better.
Don’t worry, nothing else about my channel is changing. I’m still the same person and I’m still making the same videos I always did. I simply want to change the name to something that I feel a lot better about. It’s been due for a change for years but I never had the guts to change it until now. Nobody even calls me by my channel name anyway except when I chat on Twitch streams, which I hardly do anyway. This name change might also come with a pfp change another time, which will come later. It would just be my normal Discord pfp if so. Nothing too huge.
