MONSTER MONDAY: What say you of this beast of the depths?! Hear me now! Last I crossed the coast of Kush, the sea boiled and frothed as if the abyss itself hungered for mortal flesh. From those black waters rose a devil of the depths, scales glistening, eyes like cold moons, jaws wide enough to swallow a horse.
Beside me clung a woman fair as dawn, trembling as the beast’s shadow fell upon us. She cried out to the Gods, but I laughed, for what God has ever come when a Cimmerian stands his ground? I met the monster’s gaze, and the fire in my eyes burned hotter than the sun upon the Red Waste. It faltered then, that sea fiend, cowed by the will of a man who knows no fear.
With a hiss and a thrash of its tail, it sank back into the deep, beaten not by steel but by the strength of my stare. The woman wept with relief and called me her savior, but I only grinned. For to face death and make it flee, that is the way of a Cimmerian.
