Not because of politics. Not because of ideology. Not even because I agreed or disagreed with anyone’s position.
Why? Because a human life was taken — a husband, a father, a son — for nothing more than having an unbending opinion, the ability to articulate it, and the platform to share it.
As I scrolled through some of the reactions online, I was disgusted by the cruelty of certain comments.
Let me be clear: if you have anything to say about today’s tragedy other than acknowledging its horror and condemning the cowardice of the attacker, please unfollow me and seek help.
Words. Opinions. Debates. These do not warrant violence. In fact, they are the very foundation of our nation.
Our differences are not what tear this country apart — they are what built it. You are not always right. They are not always wrong. If you rage because someone stands in opposition to your beliefs, you are the problem.
We may not agree with every viewpoint, but we should fight for the right of others to express theirs. This illusion of moral superiority, where your beliefs erase someone else’s humanity, is nothing more than a dangerous fairly tale.
Today is a sad day — not for Republicans or for Democrats, but for us all as citizens.

Condolences feels far too small a word. 🙏
