I do my best to keep things positive and not give in to complaining. But, it's more than apparent that my uploads haven't been what they used to be - this year hasn't been great for SNK related content creating.
- I apologize that I never got around to doing KOF XV content again, despite that survey from a while back. I miss those days when XV was still a thing as it wasn't just the game, but I began forming connections with other content creators - my colleagues - we shared knowledge and put them into practice, and we inspired one another. The camaraderie definitely motivated me to push myself to do my best with XV content creation. Now, most of my colleagues have since stopped uploading (maybe they've quit), which is a shame as they are obviously talented, and not having that active camaraderie does indeed stifle interests of returning to XV.
- Although I appreciate the new landscape, CotW was not the versatile game that it promoted itself to be - the Rev System may allow the chaining of EX moves, but the possible routes are limited. Unlike KOF XV, the exploration doesn't go too deep, thus, unsurprisingly, you're not seeing a lot of CotW combo video content in the general YT sphere; CotW match videos don't get as much views as match footage of other fighters.
- I really don't get SNK's current need to withhold the release date of CotW DLC characters. They never did that with KOF XV, hell, their competitors (e.g. Capcom and Arc Systems) don't ever do that. Along with significant discounts the game has seen more than once this year (its first year no less), the red flags are obvious.
- Quite a bit of disappointments that have come with SNK's re-releases - neglecting QoL update opportunities for modern audiences, and even neglecting the console community with the recent re-release of RB2.
I'm probably going to be "turning traitor" by shifting my focus to Capcom, as they have been doing a phenomenal job this year with SF6 and the re-releases of their classics. And Arc Systems will be dropping Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls next year. Though I was never into LoL, I might look into 2XKO as I'm liking what I've been seeing so far, so I'll be jumping on the game's Early Access phase.
Until then, I will still do content on the CotW DLC characters as they come in, but unless SNK makes some positive moves, (outside of the occasional stuff on older KOF titles) 2025 may be the end of my SNK era of content creation.
