What difference does his caste make? He may have not born Brahmin but he became a Brahmin by spreading light and knowledge to the world!! Isn’t that the whole purpose of Brahmins? If someone is born Brahmin and is stuck in ritual and question for more wages, should we call him a Brahmin?

Regardless of his caste his name was Aryavata, not vatta. Not to be confused with the name of his work. The question of his caste never crossed my mind. He was a great rishi that is all I need to pay respect.

I think those who fight about caste, never even tried to search about soorya siddantha, and aryabhatiya. They least bother about knowledge their aim to only satisfy their ego. Those people never include in the debate of content of book, they don't know either. They know only caste system.

It could be true. Varna was flexible back then (between savarna) . But by profession, Aryabhata (आर्यभट) is a braahmana.

Story of Satyakāma Jābāla (Mentioned in *Chhāndogya Upanishad*) सत्यकाम जाबाल की कहानी छांदोग्य उपनिषद में मिलती है, जिसमें एक निर्धन बालक सत्यकाम अपने गुरु महर्षि गौतम के पास ज्ञान प्राप्त करने जाता है। जब गुरु गौतम उससे उसका गोत्र पूछते हैं, तो वह सत्यनिष्ठा से बताता है कि उसकी माँ जबाला है और उसे अपने पिता के बारे में कुछ भी नहीं पता, क्योंकि उसकी माँ भी उसे यह नहीं बता सकी थी। सत्यकाम की सच्चाई और सत्यपरायण से प्रभावित होकर गौतम ऋषि उसे अपना शिष्य स्वीकार कर लेते हैं और वेदों का ज्ञान देते हैं, यह दर्शाते हुए कि ज्ञान प्राप्त करने के लिए व्यक्ति का चरित्र और सच्चाई ही महत्वपूर्ण है, न कि उसका जन्म या गोत्र।
