Ariana Alexis

Welcome to my annual round-up of all the films I saw for the first time in a given year. This year, I decided I combine films with series I completed in full because they’re basically just long broken-up movies that I invested a lot of time into and deserve to be rewarded for that.

In total, in 2024, I watched 102 movies/full series. As you can see through the list, we went through a lot of phases. Aliens, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mad Max, and just a whole bunch of Brendan Fraser (part two of the Fraser marathon coming in 2025).

Because of the sheer amount of films we watched, it was really hard to pick which were my favourites, but after much debate and consideration, I narrowed it down to a solid top 5 (as shown in the carousel). But you can see the full list right below this sentence:

Se7en is a piece of stone-cold great work.. gorgeously sharp and unnerving cinematography, and that final quote still resonates really deeply with me, now more than ever. And as for BlackBerry... what a magnetic central performance, wielding arrogant intensity like a weapon. Perfectly unhinged. "I'm from Waterloo! WHERE THE VAMPIRES HANG OUT!!"
