I recall asking a year ago what everyone thought about the "shorts" format, and everyone hated it . what do you think about it now?

@planet3333

Isn't it a bit cold wearing shorts in Sweden?

@thingthing899

Use them if you have a idea or message that fits the format, Do Not use them to spam the feed with cut up versions of your long form as ads.

@JMSpider69

I’ve seen them done well where they manage to be interesting and get a good amount of information in without feeling rushed but way more often they are loud, clickbaity, shallow, or rushed.

@4xdblack

I love them and hate them. I love them because I can't stop watching them, but I hate them because they're ruining my life. I say go for it.

I like them. If I see a short from someone I like I'll watch them. Sometimes I find new channels via shorts and then go over and binge their shorts until I want to watch their long form stuff.

I hate that they are so addictive, I think platforms were better before shorts. But I do believe there is some nice content in shorts too.

I've grown to like them since I discovered my better Youtube extension can convert them into the normal video format The algorithm has been doing a lot better giving me interesting stuff and genuinely well made skits/animations as shorts than it has for full videos in years

I hate them but I can't stop watching them either

Here’s my constructive opinion- they can be great for subscriber growth when they pop off. However those viewers usually do not watch long form videos. It makes it so your community grows but it’s less tight knit where ppl actually care about the content. On the other hand shorts are easy to make and when they do pop off they can make u quite a lot money with low effirt

If you want to increase reach than use it but dont show the entire final product in the shorts do clifhangers .

I watch them for mini art/blender tutorials, and that's it. They're great for information, but I never watch them otherwise.

I think they are great but your longer form videos are always way better

Random internet user, if you don't want to see shorts in any capacity, simply click on them in the home page and click on the "not interested" button on all the ones you can see. They'll disappear from the home page after like doing that to 4 of them and will only be accessible via searching and the shorts button (which is to be avoided like the plague)

I mean, clickbaity shorts suck, but if you find some rare gems (channels making zoom actually good shorts) then it’s perfectly okay. It’s also a good way to gain traction.

I've learn to do what I am best at and enjoy and everything else will fall into place. Don't muddy your "brand" with trying to conform and adopt new formats only if it serves the stories you want to tell. Keep up the good work!

Shorts have their place, and for me, it's to either have some clip of the full video to entice people to watch tthe full length version, it's to do something really quickly (small experiment or announcement that wouldn't fit into a full video). I don't like how the Shorts algorithm is TikTokified and designed to feed you an endless stream of content to watch somewhat mindlessly, but not all shorts are garbage.

@Amonimus

I have them disabled. If creators want to upload short-term content it's fine, but Youtube should play them as regular videos instead of pushing an entirely separate interface.

@oakleyves

i get annoyed when i get spammed with shorts that are just chopped up versions of videos i've already watched, but i have found 1-2 content creators who do shortform content that i like

@Xaaaach

I hate them when it feels like they should be part of an actual video. There was one I saw a lot about someone’s 3D printed table bowling alley that was annoying to only see in parts. But outside of that they’re alright,

Do not underestimate the power of the shorts
