Navajo Traditional Teachings

In this week's video Wally teaches about a phrase in the language of our people.
.
The phrase is being lost and few people know the meaning of it.
.
Before we shot this video we had to travel around Navajo Land and find other elders. Other elders that could help us understand the phrase.
.
There were only a few who knew.
.
Basically the phrase means... The future will be better but you have to make the effort with courage. You'll hear it in the video.
.
This problem (fewer and fewer people who know these old words) is getting worse. They say the language will start to die when there are no more elders who can make new words.
.
I don't know when that is but I feel like it is closer than anyone wants to admit.
.
I think with courageous effort we will somehow prevail.
.
Talk soon,
Shane "Courageous effort" Brown

πŸ‘Thank you, Shane, the back story really helps put things in context. And it seems we all hunger for more in each of Elder Wally's teachings πŸͺΆ despite how clear and true he is...Truth is like that, once you're exposed, it leaves you wanting more! πŸ˜ŠπŸ™

Dear Wally, I listen often to your teachings and they are very helpful. I retired last year and have started a You Tube channel- Connecting Montessori and Indigenous philosipies. Montessori system of education is very much like Indigenous teaching gs. Many tribes worldwide are adopting this system because of this. It is a movement to restore these cultures, language and teachings. There is hope and thank you

We all feel it. The energy has shifted. Visions are now ominous warnings I'm told I can't change what has been written. Nobody can.

Sharing Wisdom, teachings to reflect the nature of this physical place our human clothes reside. These are universal truths. Thank you so much for your teachings. They give me much in my quest for Great Father.

My grandmother was Navajo, my father was half Navajo. My grandmother passed away when my father was 3 or 4 years old so he never learned the language. Now my father is gone and I am 65 years old and trying to learn the language to pass some of it on to my grandchildren and to honor my father and grandmother. Hopefully other people will try to learn their native heritage so the languages will live on. Thanks to Wally and others who make videos about these traditions.

Dear Wally, dear Warriors fighting behind the scenes. I am so grateful for your work, putting your traditional views and ideas online for the world to consider. It really helps those searching their own truth; at least it helps me. Too bad there is no "one size fits all" solution when it comes to your personal life and how to develop it into the right direction. I know too little about your culture, your history, your life. But when you're talking about the things everyone of us encounters on their journey, I feel how we are truly brothers and sisters. Not that different. I wish you the best for your own journeys, I hope you and everyone who matters to you is well in these challenging times. I hope your future will be bright.
