I don’t see Dead Island 2 making a big impact, it just looks like a zombie simulator. Once all the novelty fun wears off it looks like there isn’t much to do in that game besides slash and slash some more. Dead Island 1 was actually pretty compelling because you could help other survivors, explore different scenarios like the city or the resort, and the story has natural progression sending you deeper into the island. Dead Island 2 looks like they just built up the graphics and gameplay but slapped on the storyline and characters. Which characters like Xian Li or Purna felt organic, because Li was an undercover spy on the island and Purna was a bodyguard, so they felt like they had stakes in the story. Where’s the characters come of as gimmicks like they belong in Saints Row.
