Considering all tech has gone up due to tariffs, shipping cost, manufacturing cost and more which handheld price increase was too much to justify and why? Just in the last year we have seen significant price jumps even on consoles like the Xbox and PS5. We also just saw price increases on ram and ssd storage drives in the past few weeks. Trust me I wish things were cheaper too.
I don’t think the brands are 100% to blame for prices because a ton goes into the handhelds and bring g them to retail. Currently everything stings when we see the price, heck even a pound of ground beef at the grocery store is 2x what it was from last year. Sometimes we have to take a step back and at least see the bigger picture and realize some things are out of the manufacturers control and they have to do the best they can with what they have to work with.
With the current situation with the sum of all the parts it takes to build a handheld honestly I’m surprised the manufacturers are even turning a profit right now in some cases. I’ve done extensive research into everything that makes up these handhelds on a wholesale level and based on what I see, I bet some of the manufacturers are cutting it extremely close and I commend them for not going even higher to gain a better profit margin.
I see mostly one brand getting hate but I don’t really understand why. We got a 10-15% performance boost for 11% more money but we also got a much more comfortable handheld and it’s more power efficient as well.
On the other hand one price went up 93% with the same performance increase. There was a screen upgrade but was it worth virtually double the price ?
Last thing to ponder on, if other brands gave a screen upgrade and but had to nearly double for it, would you change your mind and be ok with the 93% increase in exchange for a different screen? I personally think that kind of price increase turns more people away and has the reverse effect on sales.
Please drop some respectful responses and opinions below. Keep it chill. I honestly think we all have valuable opinions and everyone should be heard. I appreciate each and every one of you and my goal is to help you make the most informed choices and get the most out of your devices. I completely understand that handheld prices are getting out of the reach of lots of people but so are most hobbies and tech and every day items. Hopefully things start coming back down soon and we can see tech start gaining some big wins back soon.
