So for the 73% of people who said 11% is too much to justify, how were you able to justify the 93% increase ? If 100$ is too much, then how is a 93% increase also not too much ?

I think people would have less of a problem if the older generation handhelds dropped in price

ROG XBOX ALLY x is the best hand held thus far and I’m not just saying that because I’m a fan of Xbox. This thing feels great in the hands. Super convenient to play on the go and it runs super smooth. I played COD , FORTNITE AND OTHER GAMES AND I DIDNT EXPERIENCE NO DELAY INPUT OR LAGGING OR STUTTERING. Amazing

There's just no way to justify 1500 isd after Taxes. You're really telling me they couldn't get an already available OLED and maybe make it 8in vs 8.8. Even 7 in vs 8.8 isn't actually that much bigger. You're not getting 1.8 in every direction it's diagonally measured.

I purposely bought the original Ally X right after it came out because I wanted the better performance and could live with the VRR without an OLED screen. This (Lenovo's) jump for just adding a better screen is completely outrageous. I can understand the smaller increase for the "Xbox" Ally just because of the new processor, but at the same point you're still paying for that brand name without getting the benefits of real (Xbox) games on the hardware without streaming. The Xbox software is a huge leap forward for Windows gaming, but not quite what Steam offers on the deck, or what you get with Bazzite. If it weren't for the APU upgrade, $100 would be a lot to swallow for some handles and a front-end launcher. I'm still content with my purchase and even had a little bit left over to eventually buy the ROKID Max XR glasses so I have a decent screen to play on even when it's just me in my small apartment.

Ok, a 11% jump is not a big enough leap to actually make a big difference. So what if my 45 fps game plays a bit higher at same settings at 11% more...it is still not 60fps. The mistake Microsoft is making is that they need to tune windows better to provide a better experience on a handheld rathe than launching marginally improved hardware. BTW, I have tested the windows "Full screen experience" on my Ally and apart from a slight usability improvement, the thing offers no performance enhancement or sleep/wake optimisation....the thing still crashes if I put the device to sleep in-game (single player game). The biggest crime of all..... at 1000 dollars... improve the thing that gamers will be looking at all the time....the SCREEN. I would rather have Microsoft and Asus release a z1 extreme Ally X with a OLED VRR and 16:10 screen at say the same price point or 50 dollars higher than the OG price than this "XBOX ROG Ally". And I also put it in quotes because this is NOT an Xbox handheld....I have an Xbox....can it play all my Xbox games (unless I stream them via remote play)....NO. That is misleading marketing...If it can't play my existing Xbox library in one form or the other, it in NOT a Xbox handheld. The Legion go 2 is more expensive......Yes. But at this point (price category of devices) I would rather spring for the OLED screen which will serve me longer and better. Also both handhelds....Man...the size needs to come down. I actually portably use all this as I travel alot...I already thought that the ROG Ally X was too heavy and thick. This is worse (both of them). I need something that I can stuff on the inside of my jacket while hopping on a plane...... If I have to reach into a pouch every time I wanna play and (my god the sleep wake thing) it is not "handheld" enough. Dude, I am long time follower of your channel and love your videos man...hope what I have said here makes sense. If anythin, feel free to get back to me bud. Not hating on Xbox but it seems the people making decisions there are not gamers but Corpos. P.S. The New ones look ugly.... I just don't like the handles...prefer how the Steamdeck looks (my opinion)

You also forgot to mention the ally x already saw a price increase from 799 to 899. So it’s not really 11% of the true cost Edit: and that there’s 0 innovation from the one handheld vs the legion go.

I've spent far more time in the past 1 and a half years on tracking the handheld market before now finally buying an Xbox Ally X than I probably should have. 🙈 And there's 1 fact I see chronically undermentioned: these. things. are. computers. Smaller, yet just as good as many laptops. Versatile, quiet, cool, portable, cheap. Yes, I said it. I think they're cheap IF you're buying them as your (only) computer. Now, many people want these devices as a secondary, gaming-only device other than their already pricey laptop/desktop. And their already overpriced smartphone. That's a luxury expense, then, my friends. If you can't afford it, don't. I also waited 1.5 years because this wasn't a decision I could make willy-nilly, and that's fine. As someone who has waited for the right device to come along, I can tell you it was worth it. I'm glad I was patient, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase, including when I made it. Pro tip: get yourself a 100 - 200 USD battery-less, touch screen 15" - 18" portable monitor. The perfect versatile set-up imho ✨ Thank you for your kind question cppctek, takes courage to jump on a volatile topic like this and admit that life's tough for us al

CPPC TEK
Considering all tech has gone up due to tariffs, shipping cost, manufacturing cost and more which handheld price increase was too much to justify and why? Just in the last year we have seen significant price jumps even on consoles like the Xbox and PS5. We also just saw price increases on ram and ssd storage drives in the past few weeks. Trust me I wish things were cheaper too.
I don’t think the brands are 100% to blame for prices because a ton goes into the handhelds and bring g them to retail. Currently everything stings when we see the price, heck even a pound of ground beef at the grocery store is 2x what it was from last year. Sometimes we have to take a step back and at least see the bigger picture and realize some things are out of the manufacturers control and they have to do the best they can with what they have to work with.
With the current situation with the sum of all the parts it takes to build a handheld honestly I’m surprised the manufacturers are even turning a profit right now in some cases. I’ve done extensive research into everything that makes up these handhelds on a wholesale level and based on what I see, I bet some of the manufacturers are cutting it extremely close and I commend them for not going even higher to gain a better profit margin.
I see mostly one brand getting hate but I don’t really understand why. We got a 10-15% performance boost for 11% more money but we also got a much more comfortable handheld and it’s more power efficient as well.
On the other hand one price went up 93% with the same performance increase. There was a screen upgrade but was it worth virtually double the price ?
Last thing to ponder on, if other brands gave a screen upgrade and but had to nearly double for it, would you change your mind and be ok with the 93% increase in exchange for a different screen? I personally think that kind of price increase turns more people away and has the reverse effect on sales.
Please drop some respectful responses and opinions below. Keep it chill. I honestly think we all have valuable opinions and everyone should be heard. I appreciate each and every one of you and my goal is to help you make the most informed choices and get the most out of your devices. I completely understand that handheld prices are getting out of the reach of lots of people but so are most hobbies and tech and every day items. Hopefully things start coming back down soon and we can see tech start gaining some big wins back soon.
