Egghead Cobra

Hello everybody. I have something important to say regarding Paladins.

For those who are unaware, it was recently announced that Hi-Rez had laid off a large portion of their devs, including Evil Mojo, and that Paladins will no longer be receiving any major updates.

As someone whose been playing Paladins since late 2017, and making content for it since 2020 (Outside of some videos here and there prior), this news is soul crushing.

I don't wanna talk about how this was all Hi-Rez's fault because everyone already knows that. Instead I wanna say how grateful I am to get to experience this wonderful little hero shooter that stood the test of time despite major competition, mismanagement, and technical short comings.

I've been there for every single major event, from Ascension's Peak to End Times, playing and loving what the game was offering back then, bugs and everything. I was even present during the OB64 controversy. Damn near killed the game, but was thankfully overturned.

It introduced me to so many wonderful characters like Ying, Rei, Furia, Io, Seris, Corvus, Vora, and made me come up with my own headcanons (Corvora being the most obvious one). Gameplay-wise, besides the once I mentioned, I loved Imani, Koga, Lillith, Atlas, and Nyx.

I even got to interact with some former devs on Twitter, and got the attention of Paladins' official Twitter account when they retweeted my "Long" video. It's such an honor.

Admittedly, I've barely played it the past couple of months because I'm the kind of guy who doesn't come back to a video game unless there's a big update or such, which is why I was so hooked on Moji's support rework, but also why I played so little last year. Because there wasn't much new to come back to, and I had already experienced everything the game had to offer up to that point.

Will I continue playing it or making animations for it? I don't know. I love these characters and setting, but I've done everything I can for this game, and I don't like forcing myself to do something if I don't have the interest.

For those who will continue playing and making content for it, I'm happy for you, and I look forward to what you will provide. But for me? My future with this game is uncertain.

Still, Paladins left a major positive impact on me, and I wouldn't be the same content creator I am today without it. Overwatch may have kickstarted my hobby as an animator, but Paladins kept me going.

Thank you so much to Paladins for all the updates and content, both good and bad, and I'm glad I could contribute to the Paladins fanbase with all of my wacky nonsense.
