As a consequence of the fall, didn’t sinful living become our human nature and therefore something we have to overcome as Christians? Maybe I misunderstood you because my reading comprehension isn’t always the best.

If God does not exist, human nature is not something to live up to. It’s something we live down to.
If God does exist, every struggle to grow and overcome and become who we were meant to be is worth it. By God’s grace, we can become saints.
