this applies for reptiles like turtles and tortoises too!! even short lived animals, you never know when something is going to happen.

And remember that no matter how old one is....even if a bird owner is only 20 years old...u MUST create a will for what will happen if u die. 20 year old die all the time. We never think it will happen to us, but accidents happen all the time. Think ahead for the birds sake. Thx for saying this too

No truer words were ever spoken Alana, it applies even if you have a dog or a cat, any pet..... It's not morbid at all, it's awareness!

When you take any critter into your heart and home, you take on a huge responsibility. I'm 72yo with a 19yo cat. I made arrangements for him to be taken care of years ago. I've had cat companions for 50 years but because of my age this beloved old man will be my last.

Oh it's not at all morbid. You do that for your kids too..often before they are even born. I was 32yo when I first saw an official to talk about my last will. Cos the law wouldn't give my money and things to the person I wish to give it to. So I need an official last will. Didn't quite work out yet.😅 It's a lot of bureaucracy here

I am 67 and have a 22 year old meyers parrot which I hope I outlive, and as 14-1/2 year old green cheek. I’m hoping to outlive both but won’t get another pet, I expect the Meyers to live maybe 25 years and the green cheek maybe 20. I hope I’ve planned right, it’s difficult.❤

Griffi The Dancing Cockatoo
Countless rescues say this all the time but I'm gonna say it again.... please make plans for your feathered babies. I will be 50 this year. Tooey will most likely not outlive me Maya is 50/50, but Clyde assuming she stays the same healthy velocoraptor she is absolutely will.
Neither one of my children want the responsibility and that's ok this was a me thing. So I started reaching out to other family members and my brilliant niece agreed to take them if something should happen. Keep in mind she is like 11 and both myself and my brother had long conversations with her about the costs and commitments to these babies. She is mature enough to understand. So I've had to change my life insurance policy to include her as a beneficiary to help cover whatever costs she might incur.
Please think ahead. Don't feel like it's a morbid thing. It's planning for your birds just like you would plan for your children.
