What's your favourite stage/area in Dark Souls? (1/2/3) Other games too, if you feel like it.

Blighttown. I enjoy vertical level design in these games, and I still think Blighttown is the best example of that. It requires you to think about things other than just dodging enemies, since one wrong step will kill you. And I like that it's a slightly more open ended level than it first seems once you know what places are safe to jump from. There are areas I like better in terms of them just having an atmosphere I find pleasant, but in terms of actually playing the game it's Blighttown.

Undead Burg in DS,1 it is fantastic in showing From Soft level design techniques. In DS2 Brume Tower, quite spectacular and original. In DS3 Painted World of Ariandel for being moody and a miniature of the whole souls game. Other than From Soft it is a broad topic, but for example some chapters of NaissanceE have insanely dense atmosphere (like ch. "Going Down") and there is nothing else like it.

In Dark Souls, it has to be Ash Lake. Everything about that area invokes such a solemn, melancholy atmosphere that Dark Souls excels at. It’s one of the few areas in video games I’d describe as hauntingly beautiful.

Choosing either off atmosphere, aesthetic, or just how it made me feel upon first playthrough DeS - Prison of Hope DS1 - Darkroot Garden/Basin DS2 - Shulva Sanctum City DS3 - Irithyll of the Boreal Valley Bloodborne - Yahar'gul, unseen village Elden Ring - torn between so many so either Siofra/Nokron, Caelid, Leyndell Royal Capital. Sekiro (does this count?) - Fountainhead Palace maybe. Idr much about the game.

Id say for DS1 Anor londo, once you arrive is amazing, with all the sunlight, for DS 2 the best one is Heide's tower of flame, crumbling near the sea, for DS3 irithyll, with this blue-ish light from the moon, just like Cainhusrts castle, in Bloodborne my favourite is the Hunters Dream, specially the garden with the tree and the flowers with the moon on top. In sekiro Mount Kongo is spectacular, with so vivid colors, and in elden ring Liurnia, specially the first part after Godrick near the cliff.

Painted world of Ariamis in Ds1, great concept and a lot of lore potential with a character like Priscilla and Velka's influence in the whole place. A shame it was mostly forgotten in future games... I also enjoy going through Valley of Defilement (for real), love the "disgusting poisonous area" trope in these games and the atmosphere of that place is unmatched

In the souls trilogy probably either anor Londo, oolacile township, or ariandel (ignoring that I paid separately for what is essentially 1 level.) of the whole series it's either latria 1 or Raya Lucaria academy I love that corrupted sorcery theme and especially the music in the academy gives this otherworldly feeling to the place
