And sadly, likely to be one of the Only animated films to be nominated for the Best Picture Oscar. Because the prospect of something the Academy perceived as a threat to the prestige of the title of "Best Picture", they created a new category after this happened, "Best Animated Feature" so, any future acclaimed animated film would just be relegated to be submitted for that SUB category and not the top prize of "Best Picture". Other films nominated for Best Picture the year this happened, JFK, Bugsy, The Prince of Tides and the movie that won, The Silence of the Lambs. (which was the first horror film to win Best Picture, which is extremely rare, only 2 movies of 33 R-rated Best Picture winners, the other being Parasite.) That movie could very nearly have taken the top prize...
