Crazy to visualize the power difference between my "quick" supercharged NB (red plot) and what the turbo NA makes (green plot).

Red - Stock internal, FBO VVT engine, C30-94 Rotrex supercharged @ 14psi peak, 91 octane

Green - Forged VVT engine (+1mm bore, +2mm stroke), 12:1 compression, EFR6758 turbocharged @ 26psi, E85. Kraken low mount, 3" catless, ✨stock cams✨, minor headwork.

Yes I'm sorry I did the plot colors opposite of the car colors LOL

@OFeeliamyhinny

Thank you for doing a honest unbiased video on this super charger. I’ve never got completely on board with the turbocharger because I’d always heard about 944’s and Saab 900S’s burning up after 5 or 6,000miles from the factory. After researching (watching YouTube videos) and everything thing seemed down the supercharger especially flying Miata. It kinda seemed like they didn’t like superchargers they couldn’t get a deal on them so it wasn’t worth keeping them on the shelf . At the time not realizing the few upgrades involved with a supercharger and lower cost of parts compared to turbochargers. Then the other option according to FM was a built na wich would cost a small fortune with modest games compared with turbocharged and supercharged 1.6 or 1.8’s. now that pretty much everyone has bought turbochargers FM is talking about superchargers. Lol. Not to clown FM they have probably unarguably the best aftermarket support part selection and experience bar none on Miata’s and customer service.I have a 1990 1.6 that I’m working on, was running like a champ until I fried the ignition module with contact cleaner. With that being said. That’s just my option take it for what it’s worth, that and $10 will get you a venti coffee at Starbucks. Love the car passion channel, best Miata content.

@dupdog12

Ok cool but why did you make your green Miata red on the graph, and the red Miata green?

Quick thing i wanted to point out… unrelated to your picture. In one of your past episodes u did the “exintake” mod. But i have something else you could consider(and the community). Using the cam that comes in the 1.8(94-97) Miata engines with the hydraulic lifters. Instead of doing all that drilling and modifying to the exhaust cam, you could just drop in that intake cam. The 99 intake cam has a lift of .326” the 94-97 has a lift of .338”. Thats pretty good and all that has to be done is it just dropped in. Yes the 99-00 exhaust cam is .350” but that also comes with bunch of work. I think the older cam drop in is pretty damn good. You gain .012” of total lift. And if im reading this cam chart right you get leas overlap which is good for turbos. Im running that cam with no problems. This might be known already but i figure i put it out there.

@felix-gq3xk

That red power curve is hella smooth

@SuperHbkforever

I love that even though the supercharger makes immediate torque, the turbo car makes more torque throughout the entire rev-range. There's no point where it's making less power and that just cool.

Being a big fan of the trip from Otay preserve to the reservoir, that turbo car is kinda scary.

@MrClassicT

Might have been funny to add a fully stock na/nb pull in there too🤣

@tylerreed7385

You should put a stock na power on they're too to show like a 1.6 🤣

@GuernB2

Looks like the NB has a few hundred more RPM in it

When are you posting some drag racing again. I need the motivation to take my turbo NA to the track

Am I seeing 500hp on a stock internals 1.6?

@numba1balla

my nb2 miata stopped driving a while ago ive done a lot of digging but i was wondering if you could answer a question, or perhaphs give some insight, we were trying to get my miata to start after doing the timing(we broke the vvt actuator and didnt realize until too late) and my friends dad was jumping stuff in the diag box, big spark and past that obd2 port doesnt read, we get a meite me442 ecu becasue i believed the stock one was fried, stick the ecu in the car and it starts, however the key doesnt turn the car off. we drove it like this for a week disconnecting the battery and spark plugs in the right order every time to turn off the car. a week goes by and the map sensor line got cut from the shitty hole we made, so we drilled a new hole in the rubber grommet for the wiring harness, afterwards i drive it for 15 minutes the entire time the car will randomly shut off fully and then turn back off, got to a light and it didnt turn back on. end of story sorry and thank you ALSO the immob light is flashing 2 long pulses and 4 short ones i dont know at what point the light started to show but i imagine jumping the diag box did that
